SCD Soldier Network, Inc.

You don't have to have Sickle Cell in order to become a SCD Soldier. We are looking for people who want to support those who battle the disease. If you want to advocate for those with the disorder or attend events that bring awareness to the disease, you qualify.

Support Soldiers are invited to all of the events that we are a part of. They help to get the word out whenever we come to their town. They forward emails that they receive from the network and they report incidents involving a person with the disease and make referrals for patients who need our services.

Front-Line Soldiers do all of the things that our Support Soldiers do and in addition they are the unit that is activated when a situation arrives in their area. They do the hands-on advocacy work. They also support those in need of care when in the hospital. They visit patients, provide meals for the families who are headed by a client who is sick. There are a variety of services that they will provide.

Tiny Soldiers are those who are 12 and under and they attend awareness events and support other kids who battle SCD.

Peer Recruiters are contacting those in their respective fields of expertise and joining as a group. Peer groups are being formed in order to reach outside of the sickle cell community for help with bringing awareness to Sickle Cell. If you want to become a peer recruiter let us know what the name of your group will be and what field you are associated with. 

Just because you have never done anything like this before, does not mean that we don't want you. We will be training all of our soldiers no matter what level you decide to commit to. If you have a heart for hurting people who suffer with Sickle Cell, we need you in our network.

Training Provided

All of the soldiers will be trained before being asked to serve. The Training Program is for all of our soldiers and it will be comprehensive. We will give you an overview of who we are and what we expect.

We will role-play so that you will have a visual of how a successful outcome is achieved.

We will be doing regional training so that you don't have to travel far in order to get your certification. For those unable to attend training we will try to create an online training course with interaction with the trainers.
